OVER A CUP
OF COFFEE – RECENT REVELATIONS ON FOREIGN BANK ACCOUNTS
It was
decided by Shyam and Gopu to meet with the new revelations of foreign bank
account of Sri Karthik Chidambaram, son of the former Finance Minister in the
UPA Govrnment.
The revelations
though important were not given the due importance by the TV channels and even
the newspapers. The Hindu carried the
press conference with details in its Page 12 (Bangalore Edition), with the IPL auction and Ben
Stoke leading the pack occupying the Front Page. The details given by Dr. Swamy is not just about an account in some foreign bank but about 21 accounts as alleged by him not
figuring in the retuns of IT filed by Mr. Karthik Chidambaram. Dr. Swamy asked for the intervention of the
PM Shri Modi, alleging inaction on the part of the Ministry of Finance. If so, this is a very serious matter. It all the more assumes importance with the
allegation of Dr. Swamy, that the inaction is due to the officials appointed by
the previous Finance Minister who were the ones to deal with the matter and to
cap it all, he said that it is for saving the father and son duo.
Gopu told
Shyam, as he was sipping the coffee, the allegation that investigative agencies
have been asking to prosecute Mr. Karthik Chidambaram under the Prevention of
Money Laundering Act but it has not happened also assumes importance, as it
seems there is willful act of not going about even initiating action on the
matter. Shyam felt it needs more details
such as the period in which the investigative agencies informed for action to
prosecute. If it had been over a
considerable period of time, the matter assumes serious proportion. Even the question arises whether the matter
was taken by Dr. Swamy too with the Minsitry of Finance and seeing no action
only, he has requested the PM to intervene. Above all, Shyam felt the party as a whole, BJP should rise up in eradicating corruption. By this time, they should have called Dr. Swamy to address their party working committee members which would have naturally brought all members connected to give their opinion and also act further on the subject.
Later in
the day, however Mr. Karthik Chidambaram has tweeted that some outrageous
claims have been made about him. His IT filings are upto date and in
conformance the rules requirements. He
has also said his companies have made all declarations as per the statutory
requirements.
The matter
being very serious, it invites the Prime Minsiter’s immediate attention and
hope the PMO is keeping him abreast of the developments on 21 foreign bank
accounts of Mr. Karthik Chidambaram and also the reply tweet of Mr. Karthik Chidambaram
on the subject. Though the report on
The Hindu on this particular article their special correspondent does not
reveal the amount involved, there is reports various Social Media Platforms,
that the amount involved is 6Lakh Crores.
Hope the Prime Minsiter who is hell bent on eradicating corruption will
do the needful said Gopu and asked for details from Shyam in the coming weeks,
as he would be busy with his office work and bid bye.
